Cebu’s Diving Heaven, Sumilon Island

Post Updated Feb 24, 2023

Named the diving heaven by locals, Sumilon Island is a tiny but rich island located at the southeastern tip of the Municipality of Oslob in the province of Cebu. This 24-hectare luxuriant island could be your next Philippine destination to explore!

Did you know? Sumilon in our dialect means “take refuge”

Sumilon Island

The only resort on the island is Sumilon Bluewater Resort, the sister resort of the popular Maribago Bluewater Resort in Mactan, Cebu. The resort offers 4-star accommodations with access to white sand and coral reef beaches. It is but a quiet island, perfect for relaxing if you want to get away from the hustle-bustle of the city.

Getting There

By Car

From Cebu City proper, you may arrange a car/van/taxi or ride a commuter bus to Bancogon, Oslob. The drive usually takes three to four hours.

By Boat

If you are coming from the neighboring provinces such as Bohol or Dumaguete, you may take a fast craft which would take one to two hours. If you take the normal fast craft, you would dock at Lilo-an Port in Santander. From Li-loan Port, you may take a public vehicle going to Bancogon, Oslob. You can also choose to charter a private boat that will dock at Sumilon Island.
