Finally, Kape Ta!

I have been meaning to visit this cafe for God knows how long. Then one random day, after an impromptu thrift date with my good friend Janine, I finally found the reason to drop by and try Kape Ta! Coffee.

Location

Kape Ta! Coffee, is located in Canduman, Mandaue City, just right beside Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu. If you’re from the area, you’d know how this road gets packed.

I’m from Cebu North, so passing this road is not new to me but I never had the chance to drop by because I’m either in a hurry or there’s just too many cars in the area so I assume the place is also packed.

The cafe is somewhat offbeat given its secluded location which makes me even more curious. I first checked their social media profile and saw how cute the place is and I wondered how their cinnamon rolls taste since they claim to be the home of the best cinnamon rolls in Cebu.

When we arrived at the place, I think we were the second customer. It wasn’t packed at all. The cars that I see every time I pass were cars from the condominium beside it — that’s why!

Kape Ta! Coffee serves all-day breakfast meals, pizza, coffee and non-coffee drinks, and of course their “famous” cinnamon rolls. We were famished from all the thrifting that day so we ordered our food first. Everything in their all-day breakfast menu is ₱199 and comes with free iced tea. I also ordered their salted caramel cold brew coffee.

PERSONAL REVIEW

I’m no professional food critique. This is just based on my observation and personal preference.

FOOD

In all honesty, I don’t think their food is bad but it’s not extremely amazing either. Their cinnamon rolls, flavor-wise, is good. Only if the dough/bread was softer, I’d say it’s amazing. Their cold brew was okay too. I suggest having it chilled. I brought my coffee home and placed it in the chiller, it tasted better than having it with just ice.

SERVICE

Their staff were kind and accommodating. They were the ones who told us to bring a power cord the next time we visit.

PLACE

The place is very simple and straightforward. It’s pet-friendly since the dining area is just outdoors. They also offer free Wi-Fi.

There are two things to note. #1 is that they don’t have a lot of power outlets. They asked us if we have an extra power cord but I didn’t know we needed one. #2 is their parking area is the open lot before the cafe building, not the parking lot behind it — that lot is intended for the condominium beside it.

I also don’t think it’s the best place to work since their chairs aren’t that comfortable for long sitting but if you’ll just be there for an hour or two, then that would be fine.

Now that schools are resuming face-to-face classes, I’m pretty sure cafes and restaurant near schools will go back to getting packed with students or parents waiting for their kids. I’m just savoring moments wherein I can enjoy the place peacefully (with less people).

Kape Ta! Cebu is open daily from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM. You can check out their official Instagram page at @kape.ta2017.
