Experience the New Mactan Cebu International Airport T2

When I travel, I usually just go about my normal airport process (check-in – clear immigration – security – board plane – fly). In short, I don’t really have enough time to roam around the airport or to even try its new facilities except for their new and modern bathrooms and their security upgrade.

A week or two ago, I finally had the time to leisurely explore the newest terminal of Mactan Cebu International Airport. It has been over a year since it opened to the public last July 2018.

I wanted to share an airport guide of some sorts but ended up enumerating new facilities/services that you shouldn’t miss at the new passenger terminal building of MCIA. These top 5 airport facilities will truly change your entire airport experience.

#1 Plaza Premium Lounge

The Plaza Premium Lounge is considered the largest independent airport lounge network in the world. Providing premium airport services in over 160 locations of 42 international airports across the world, the Plaza Premium Lounge continues to expand.

In 2018, it opened its first premium lounge in the Philippines, at our very own Mactan Cebu International Airport.

Level up your airport experience with their services by availing their Lounge Use Package for as low as Php1,560.00 or approximately 31USD. Kids aged two to eleven can get a 50% discount. With this, you can enjoy comfortable seating, great food and beverage spread, stable WiFi connection, up-to-date flight information, TV and entertainment, and a whole lot more!

Designed by travelers for travelers, Aerotel Airport Transit Hotel was specifically created to make your airport journey enjoyable. It’s basically an airport hotel with global standards.

Managed by the Plaza Premium Group, Aerotel Cebu is a first in the Philippines. They aim to provide all the comforts of home right at the airport. At Aerotel, comfort and convenience are of great importance, so take a nap, freshen up, grab a drink, recharge and relax while you wait for your next journey.

The Aerotel offers flexible hourly bookings, attentive services, carefully tailored designs, and all sorts of facilities and services. Whether you are transiting, arriving, or departing, Aerotel warmly welcomes you.

It’s located on Level L1 (outside airport secured area) at Mactan Cebu International Airport. They have solo and double rooms. Rate starts at Php1,500.00 or approximately 30USD. For more information, you may reach them at +63 32 494 7829 or send them a message at hello.ceb@myaerotel.com

Note: If you are transiting in Cebu, please note that you must be in possession of a valid travel document and clear security to enter the Philippines in order to access Aerotel Cebu.

#3 Cabin

Awarded as Asia Pacific Airport Bar of the Year, the Cabin serves fine wines, beers and other beverages from all around the world. Not only that, but they also serve a selection of gourmet treats. Situated at the center of the newest terminal building at the Mactan Cebu International Airport, the Cabin is the first full bar operating inside a Philippine airport. Its resort-feel design and concept will truly stand out and is definitely hard to miss.

#4 Momento by Duty Free

But of course, Duty Free shouldn’t be missed! Aside from the well-known international brands, Duty Free and Mactan Cebu International Airport came up with its first-ever local concept store in the Philippines.

Enjoy a world-class shopping experience in MCIA Terminal 2. The Momento, whose name was formed by combining the words moment and memento, offers our very own local products, manufactured and crafted in Cebu.

The Momento is located across the Cabin Bar. Make sure to have some extra time if you plan to roam around and shop!

No bias, but ever since Mactan Cebu International Airport Terminal 2 opened, I prefer to have my international flights exit there.

Aside from all these amenities and services, there are still a lot to see inside the new terminal – new shops, services, and facilities. But if I cover all of it, this would become a super lengthy article. So I’d leave it for you to see, discover and experience.

We seriously upped our airport game and other international airports in the Philippines should also consider doing the same!

Public Advisory: As of September 1, International Terminal Fees at MCIA are already incorporated into our airline tickets. This means more time to explore our friendliest resort-airport since we need not have to queue for our terminal fees!

Read the full advisory and the process flow here.

Experience the warmth of Cebu, start your journey at Mactan Cebu International Airport.
